Telecom Magazine: Household spending on mobile falls in UK
Price cuts offset increase in usage, says Ofcom
Average household spending on mobile services has fallen for the first time ever in the UK, according to a new report from UK regulator Ofcom…While the headline figures will make a depressing read for all the UK’s mobile operators, some of the details may give them heart. The penetration of 3G mobile phones rose to 11.2 percent from 7 percent last year, says Ofcom, which claimed other conditions may also now be in place for the take-off of the mobile internet.
“More and more people are using the mobile internet and 3G handsets, all of which is encouraging for mobile operators looking to grow their data revenues,” says Matt Bancroft, VP of software developer Mformation.
