Telecom Redux: Mformation wins Japanese WiMAX contract
UQ Communications has selected the Mformation Service Manager to provide seamless device management capabilities for new WiMAX-capable devices as part of the rollout of its WiMAX network. The UQ Communications venture was established with KDDI Corporation, Intel Capital Corp. East Japan Railway Company, KYOCERA Corporation, Daiwa Securities Group Inc. and The Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ Ltd. Advanced device management ensures that WiMAX-capable devices can be remotely activated and provisioned irrespective of their source, ensuring they work seamlessly and deliver an enhanced mobile Internet experience. WiMAX will deliver a significant boost to the mobile Internet, allowing users to access advanced data applications and personal content from anywhere in the WiMAX coverage area, on any WiMAX-enabled device at broadband speed.
