Total Telecom: New partnership addresses smartphone support costs

Mformation ties up with Amdocs in a bid to alleviate mobile operators' pain from increased customer care calls from smartphone users

Mobile operators are looking for a more efficient approach to customer care as the proliferation of smartphones and data services brings with it the threat of costly support.

With that in mind, mobile device management company Mformation on Tuesday announced a new partnership with billing specialist Amdocs that is designed to improve the first line of customer support.

"That support pain point is now becoming quite significant for the operators," Rob Dalgety, marketing director at Mformation told Total Telecom ahead of the announcement.

The partnership will see Mformation combine its mobile device management technology with Amdocs' customer management suite.

In essence the move will enable the first line of telephone support staff to solve the majority of customer device issues, rather than the caller being passed through numerous levels of support before reaching technical help. This means calls can be resolved quicker and, crucially for the operators, more cheaply.
