Mformation Extends Patent Portfolio for Advanced Mobile Device Management

Edison, New Jersey, USA and Ottawa, Canada – June 30, 2008 – Mformation® Technologies Inc., the leading global provider of mobile device management (MDM) solutions, today announced that it has been granted two new strategic patents that broaden its patent portfolio. The first is granted by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. The patent, number 7,343,408, includes 41 separate claims for remotely managing and securing mobile device data and software over a wireless network. The second, filed with the European Trademark Office under number EP1493290, includes 17 separate claims that cover the capability to manage, control, and reconfigure wireless devices remotely over a wireless network. The granting of these patents further highlights Mformation’s role as a device management pioneer and its clear technology leadership of the mobile device management industry.

The new patents relate to the remote, over-the-air management, control and security of mobile device data and application software over a wireless network. The specific claims listed in these patents cover a number of critical device management functions, including: security—remotely “locking” a device by disabling access to the applications and data on the device, or “wiping” a device by erasing data on the device; software management—over-the-air download and installation of software applications onto devices; application configuration—remotely changing the configuration of applications on devices; and diagnostics—over-the-air retrieval of device state information.
