CTC receives an order from UQ Communications for a WiMAX Device Management System
Itochu Techno Solutions K.K. (known as CTC, HQ: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, CEO: Yoichi Okuda) received an order from mobile WiMAX business operator, UQ Communication K.K. (hereafter UQ Communications, HQ: Chiyoda-ku, CEO: Koji Tanaka), for a device management system based on the mobile WiMAX infrastructure. A device management system is a system used to collect, manage and write device and user information.
UQ Communications is preparing for their launch of commercial mobile WIMAX services, scheduled for summer 2009. CTC has been selected as the vendor responsible for the development, construction and O&M support of UQ’s CSN System, which is an infrastructure system for WiMAX services that UQ Communications will be launching. In addition to the CSN System, CTC has also been selected as the vendor for construction of UQ’s device management system.
The core of the device management system being provided by CTC consists of Mformation Technologies Inc.’s (HQ: Edison, NJ) product. Mformation Technologies’ platform is currently being used by Sprint, a world leader in the commercial WiMAX business, as their WiMAX device management system. The value of Mformation Technologies’ advanced implementation experience in the US, combined with CTC’s past achievements in mobile network infrastructure construction and O&M services, contributed to the selection.
In May 2008, CTC set up the “CTC WiMAX Ecosystem,” which promotes construction of a WiMAX system infrastructure, with 6 leading network vendors, and is actively involved in the infrastructure construction business for WiMAX services domestically in Japan. By being selected as an acknowledged vendor for the device management system as well, CTC further strengthens its lead in the WiMAX service infrastructure construction business.
