Automatic, over-the-air activation, provisioning and configuration of connected devices

Mobile subscribers now use a wide range of wireless devices, from low-end phones with basic functionality to smart devices that have increasing computing power and support a wide range of services. Computing devices—tablets, notebooks and netbooks to USBs, MiFi devices and connect cards—now are increasingly connected over wireless networks. In addition, consumer and enterprise users have come to rely on advanced mobile services such as email, social media, picture and video messaging, Internet access, entertainment and business applications. To ensure that these devices and services are always working and optimized, they must be correctly set up and configured at all times.

Configuration Manager is an over-the-air configuration solution for all types of wireless devices that enables mobile operators and service providers to set key configuration settings automatically or on demand via the call center. Support for configuring the settings of new data services as they come to market can be added dynamically. The entire configuration process can be totally automated when the Automatic Device Detector (ADD) and Automation Manager modules are deployed, enabling new devices or device/SIM card pairs to be detected and configuration actions triggered automatically.  The solution can also be integrated with the call center to enable customer care representatives to troubleshoot mobile devices.

Configure Settings

• Set configuration settings for important data services (e.g., email, social media, Internet and MMS) ensuring that the settings on the devices are always correct
• Repair partially configured settings
• Set policies for connection continuity and bearer selection
• Send configuration settings to individual devices or to a group of devices

• Capture, keep and report on the history of each device's configuration settings

Automated device detection and configuration

• Automatically discover new devices (using Mformation’s Automatic Device Detector module) in both SS7 and LTE network topographies
• Trigger automated over-the-air updates of configuration settings under predetermined circumstances (using Mformation’s Automation Manager module)

CDMA

• Activate, provision and update number assignment modules (NAM blocks) on devices over the air
• Activate, provision and update operator preferred roaming lists (PRL) to groups of subscribers over the air. As the network changes, the PRL can be updated for all devices across the customer base.
