Software Manager

Remote distribution, setup, update and management of device software and firmware

Customers are demanding a more tailored and customized mobile experience that requires software and firmware to be distributed regularly to their mobile devices. At the same time, users expect their devices and the applications on them to always work properly.

Software Manager provides integrated management for both software applications and device firmware. Applications can be distributed, updated and managed on devices that support both the standardized and pre-standardized version of software components (SCOMO) and well as on devices utilizing Mformation's extension to the SCOMO specification. Software Manager also provides a secure, intelligent, over-the-air mechanism for updating device firmware (FOTA), eliminating expensive device recalls and extending the life of customer devices. Mformation has solutions to ensure support for the latest devices, from feature phones and smartphones to computing devices, including tablets, notebooks, netbooks, USBs, MiFi devices and connect cards.

Application deployment

• Over-the-air install/uninstall/activation/deactivation of third-party applications onto mobile devices, whether the applications reside locally or on an external server
• Over-the-air install/uninstall/activation/deactivation of application upgrades onto mobile devices
• Ongoing tracking of device software information (name, size, version, retrieved date, etc.)
• Schedule application actions on groups of devices in real-time, at intervals or during off-peak hours
• Track and manage authorized/unauthorized software and device software inventory

Application configuration

• Manage third-party applications and services after they are installed on mobile devices. Commands are specific to the type of application being managed.
• Configure applications to ensure that they are set up for both the device and the mobile network
• Manage the configuration policies of third-party applications

Firmware update (FOTA) management

• Update firmware on standards-based devices over the air regardless of the firmware update client on the device
• Automatically register factory bootstrapped devices, reducing management overhead for these devices
• Manage the entire firmware package lifecycle, schedule firmware updates for groups of devices and report on bulk and individual firmware transactions
