Device Support

The value of MDM is directly linked to the number of devices supported and the sophistication of interaction between the MDM server platform and the devices.

Mformation's Device Certification Center has been building a core database for many years; it currently contains nearly 4,000 device models, with new devices added constantly. Mformation provides the most comprehensive set of device support programs for GSM, CDMA and WiMAX networks, covering the broadest range of device models over the widest range of MDM use cases. Mformation’s operator customers and device vendor partners rely on our device support programs to ensure interoperability between the DM server and the devices.

A wide range of test cases based on OMA CP, OMA DM and WiMAX Forum specifications — from configuration to advanced MDM functions and Mformation extensions to standards — ensure a consistent level of support for all services.

There are three components to ensuring device support: handset portfolio definition, device certification and device self-certification.

HANDSET PORTFOLIO DEFINITION

Operators determine their device support requirements. Mformation then supports new device makes and models for device management services. Interoperability testing includes:

  • Testing on CDMA, GSM and WiMAX networks, over all major frequencies, in all regions
  • Support for operator-specific devices, legacy devices and standard “vanilla” devices Support for FUMO, SCOMO, LAWMO, LFMO and other advanced OMA DM objects
  • Testing with Mformation client, password client, encryption client, and SIM applet
  • End-to-end testing for supported services, including mapping devices to server versions and specific installations of MFORMATION SERVICE MANAGER
  • Firmware management and upgrades tested with genuine firmware packages
