Rolling out M2M services can be complex, as different industries can have diverse requirements and deployment characteristics. Our M2M device management solution is oriented around the ETSI (European Telecommunications Standards Institute) M2M standard, which provides a simplified functional architecture for addressing the M2M needs of multiple industries. This is key for mobile operators and service providers that want to extract value from a single platform serving multiple customers on millions of endpoints concurrently.
Our M2M Device Management solutions enables carriers, service providers and M2M solution providers to deliver device management capabilities for a wide range of M2M verticals—from the automotive industry with vehicle telematics to mobile healthcare and wellness, energy and security, retail, and manufacturing. Our highly scalable, multi-tenant server architecture, with robust APIs on the server platform and an SDK for enabling management clients on devices, eases the deployment of end-to-end M2M device management offerings.
Device Management Server: The DM Server is the base framework for all device management capabilities. It is a proven, robust, carrier-grade, multi-tenant OMA DM server with a flexible, scalable architecture that can support millions of endpoints on a single instance. It supports push mechanisms to “wake up” clients when they are to be managed, and provides a progress view of actions, messages, transactions, state and history information. It includes all core operation, administration and management functions, as well as logging, auditing, scheduling and reporting capabilities.
Web-services APIs: A rich set of Web-services APIs enable M2M application providers to build their vertical applications and systems to include critical device management capabilities. The APIs support a multi-tenant model, enabling different application vendors to remotely manage their own verticals independently and securely. Using the APIs, external systems can transmit and receive device data, configuration settings, diagnostics and other device management information over a secure medium without concern about how the device is “woken up” or what mechanisms are used to secure and guarantee the integrity of the data transfer.
Open DM™ Client: The Open DM client is a standardized device client based on the OMA DM standard. It provides OEMs and device integrators with an SDK they can use to integrate MDM capabilities into their devices, and to extend management support to non-OMA DM endpoints when working in gateway mode. It includes support for a wide range of management objects, including ConnMO (connectivity and access points), FUMO (firmware updates), LAWMO (lock, wipe and factory reset), SCOMO (software component management) and GwMO (gateway management, fan-out, and area network configuration). It is available as a source code distribution to OEMs and device integrators who need to embed the client as part of the device and comes as a full SDK with supporting documentation and Device Description Files for supported OMA DM nodes.
