The Senior Technical Manager - GSM DevCert is responsible to the Director, MIDAS (Mobile Interoperable Devices and Software).  The MIDAS program was created to reduce the go-to-market cycle for rapidly deploying new devices to the field.  The Senior Technical Manager – GSM DevCert will be responsible for defining, developing and improving procedures for testing and certifying GSM devices, and for supporting remote team testing and integration efforts.

Key responsibilities

Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:

  • Develop efficient GSM operational testing procedures
  • Train and manage local and remote mobile device integration and testing personnel
  • Define and tracking technical resource utilization
  • Define, identify and improve technical procedures for device testing
  • Travel (up to 50%) to support remote team testing and integration efforts
  • Work collaboratively with product and program management to ensure key customer SLAs are met on-time and with high quality

General requirements

  • Ability to be flexible with travel and to handle aggressive customer and account team schedules
  • Ability to meet tight delivery timelines and be responsive to internal and customers needs
  • Ability to handle long-term customer service engagements focused on details and features important to mobile operating companies

Education and work experience:

Essential:

  • Experience managing small local and remote technical teams
  • Technical Bachelor’s Degree OR 5 years of technical personnel management

Desirable:

  • Master’s Degree in a Management or Technical Discipline

Technical Requirements

Essential:

  • Knowledge of GSM mobile device technology
  • Experience providing mobile device technical support or transferable technical support skills
  • Experience testing mobile devices and setting quality standards of excellence

Desirable:

  • Ability and aptitude to create mobile device simulation testing software
  • Working knowledge of SQL and XML
