Handset/Device OS Partners

Mformation supports all mobile handsets and all mobile device manufacturers worldwide, as well as the operating systems than run on these handsets, and is constantly adding support for new products as they come to market. Mformation maintains close relationships with handset partners to ensure that the Mformation platform works as expected across the widest range of handsets.

The value of MDM is directly linked to the number of devices supported and the sophistication of interaction between the MDM server platform and the devices. Two key device programs ensure that Mformation’s solution enables operators to support their subscribers across the greatest possible variety of handset and OS platforms:

Device Certification Program: This program covers the scoping of devices supported, server and client functionality, and testing and acceptance. All operators rigorously test new devices before launching them. And since MDM functionality is now a critical requirement for new devices in all operators, it has become important to test MDM functions before any new device is launched. Mformation’s Device Certification program ensures that new devices are defined and tested, ensuring that they work with the Mformation server platform before they are released to market. The program covers the broadest possible range of devices—from feature phones to smart phones, data cards and embedded modems. All network types are covered including GSM, WCDMA, HSDPA, EV-DO, CDMA2000 and WiMAX.

Device Self-Certification Program: This program provides our device vendor partners with access to an instance of the Mformation platform to remotely test the device management capabilities of their devices with the Mformation DM server before submitting them for acceptance. This enables device vendors to test and self-certify their devices against industry standards and operator requirements earlier in the development cycle, delivering a huge benefit to both the device vendors and the operators by significantly reducing both time-to-market and costs. All major handset vendors are actively involved in this program to ensure the interoperability of their devices with the Mformation platform and that they are delivering products that meet both the functional and user experience requirements of operators.
